Random thoughts (questions) part trois...

Did you know that Snickers candy bar was named after a horse?

I don't watch Lost but I was wondering how it is that they seem to have so little facial hair. I hear that they had been on the island for four months and all they have is a little scruff. Is it the magical powers of the island?

Word of the week...

This week's word of the week while not being a real word is actually quite lovely. Merriam-Webster put together a list of the top ten words that are not in the dictionary where our very own word of the week was number one!
If you click on the link to the right you can see the rest of the list.

Pen Clicking Crazy...

I watch a lot of television and movies by myself along with reading many blogs most daily so sometimes my in-jokes involve only me, people who are not real and people who live thousands of miles away and don't know that I exist because I am a lurker. This can be problematic because sometimes things that I find hysterical, because they relate to lets say someone else's blog, others don't think are funny at all. This happens all the time to me but I decided that it is time to share.
I am staying at my parents house to take care of the cat and the dog while they drive to NY to pick up my sister. A trip that I so aptly named "Operation Pick-up Katherine". So this morning I was laying in bed at my parents house after about two hours of sleep, (and we know that everything is funnier when you are sleep deprived) while my mom was getting the last few things together, and heard her say to herself "don't forget your ink pins (yes she says pins instead of pens), or you'll be bummed". (we will have to discuss the absurdity of this sentence later). I found it funny because I read a story about a guy that went out with someone who REALLY liked pens. They even said "look at the jump on this one" referring to the the clicking action. I couldn't help but picture my mom saying "look at the jump on this one" so I laughed, but...alas I was alone in my laughter.

Watching TV with Grandpa...

Reasons why watching Judge Joe Brown with your grandfather is enjoyable:

  1. Discussing why it is stupid to go on those shows and do really stupid things like admit to real crimes to try and get out of paying your ex-girlfriend back the money you barrowed from her, while your uncle that would probably do the same thing sits right next to you. (Oh wait that was Judge Judy, but you get the idea)
  2. Discussing the reasons why the defendant's case that she doesn’t have to pay the money back to the plaintiff that she stole, not just barrowed but stole because the defendant came into her home with and STD and caused her family pain and suffering is not a valid one (mostly because it did not actually affect her family at all).
  3. The fact that her whole case have to do with how big of a whore the plaintiff was, (which by the way the plaintiff did not even try to deny) had nothing to do with the money that was owed was kinda funny.
  4. Explaining number two and three to your mother over dinner

The end of an era...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Thursday night I watched the season finale of er. I thought that I would be more upset then I was. I cried when previous cast members left, but not this time. Maybe it was because I knew that he would be back from time to time, but what I think is more likely the case, I just don't care as much as I use to. I use to look forward to Thursday nights. "Must See TV." My TV would never leave NCB and that colorful little peacock. I find myself now while still watching TV on Thursday nights (is there anything else to do?) but spending most of the night on CBS. No I don't watch Survivor, but I do enjoy CSI and Without a Trace. I even find myself while watching my beloved er secretly wishing that I was watching Without a Trace instead. (Wow I need TiVo for my 3 1/2 channels) So it is with sorrow that I say good-bye to a long time friend Dr. Carter, but maybe not with the same sorrow that I would have felt in previous years.

Word of the week...

Thanks to my wonderful sister we have new word of the week. Without her we would be left with discombobulated. “Thank you for being there at eleven thirty at night to help me come up with new word of the week for my blog sis.”

Yeah...

Last night while suffering from a bout of insomnia I heard one of the most absurd things ever. An advertisement for upcoming community events stated that there would be a “Jeep Blessing” taking place this coming weekend. I was not sure that I had heard this right. Maybe my ears were deceiving me; maybe in addition to suffering from insomnia I was also a bit delirious. Alas my ears had not deceived me and I was not delirious there is in fact a “Jeep Blessing” this weekend. All I can say is “what?”

"5/14/2005 The 4th Annual Jeep Blessing will be held on May 14th at 9am at Ellen's cornersin Mesick. All jeep owners and their families are welcome. After the blessing here will be kids activities, prizes and raffles, 4x4 vendors, and much more. For more information call xxx-xxx-xxxx."

So I discovered that I really should not complain about something and then turn around and do it in the same post, like what happened yesterday. I could say that it was to see if anyone was paying attention (which they were) but that would be a lie. I was not paying attention.

Really???

I wonder if people that write articles actually look at the pictures that will be accompany them?

For example look at this picture and then read what it said right below it.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

"In one hand, he holds a blood-smeared cotton swab over a beaker. In the other, he delicately clasps a dropper filled with a chemical solution."

Is he really holding the swab in one hand and the dropper in the other? Because to me it looks like the woman is holding the dropper* swab. (Apparently I need to look at the picture that I am writing about as well. At least I don’t have an editor that missed it too.) I'm just saying. Click here if you would like to read the entire article which is written equally as well.

* I don't know how to do strikethrough

Things that frustrate me...

There are many things that frustrate me, one of the biggest is people picking or biting their finger nails. Why am I telling you this??? Well, I am at the library and they guy that is sitting across from me has been biting his fingernails since he got in here. Not only is he biting them, he actually spit one of the pieces out. EWWW. So please when you are sitting near me do not, I repeat do not bite your finger nails!! Also there is a woman a few tables down from me that keeps coughing, would someone please tell her to go get a drink of water.

Also to those of you that might not realize the significance of yesterdays quiz, I do in fact have an uncommon love of office products, but I never thought that I would be paper. Hmm

Fun Quiz...

I am:
heavyweight (44 lb) cream white laser printable paper stock, for covers on lengthy documents
Having the title page hanging right out in the open, when it's more than five pages, just doesn't show the right degree of class.

Which office supply are you?

Reprimanded…

I guess after complaining about no one reading my blog a few weeks back I deserve what I got today. Today I was scolded for not updating my blogs since last Tuesday. So here it is an update: Not much is going on so I really don’t have much to say sorry. My life just really is not that interesting.

What number are you???

I have nothing interesting for today so I thought it would be a good time for a stupid quiz...so here it is.

Word of the Week...

Look-y the word of the week is now located in the side bar to the right of the page, yippy!! I was thinking that instead of just trying to use wonky in a sentence this week you should also leave a comment telling me how you did it. So if you have any good wonky stories let me know!!!

Change is good...

Obviously I changed my template a bit. I knew I didn't like it before, but I am not really sure that I like it any better now, but it was a real pain to update everything so I think that things are going to stay like this for a while. I hope that it is not too horrible to look at.

(wow three updates in one day. what is going on?)

What to say...

Have you ever really felt the urge to say something to a total stranger but your better judgment told you not to?

It just happened to me! I was in the elevator with a guy that looked like he had been in a fight and well...lost. I really wanted to turn to him and say "I wonder what the other guy looks like." But I didn't, stupid internal censor, well maybe it is for the best.
