As Promised...

This week's Word of the Week (WotW for those of you in the know) is brought to you by Joan.

I made a promise that if she came to visit me I would use copius as the WotW so here it is.

Even with the copious number of promises I make, I always keep them. (Or at very least try really hard to keep them.)

10 miles, up hill both ways and in the snow...

Okay so maybe it is more like 1 mile, flat land with no snow, but it was like thirty-ish degrees for my walk to school this morning.
That would have been fine if my cell phone wouldn't have fallen out of my pocket feet from my apartment complex, or if I would've realized it much sooner. See its not the walk that's bad, its my intense fear of being late. By the time I went back and got my cell phone and made it to school I was still early, just not as early as I like. As a result I will have a stomach ache the rest of the day. "Thanks" hole in my pocket.

Found...

Way back in May I wrote: "I don't watch Lost but I was wondering how it is that they seem to have so little facial hair. I hear that they had been on the island for four months and all they have is a little scruff. Is it the magical powers of the island?"
Now my question has been answered. Yes, sadly I have become another victim of Lost. I recently started watching season one on DVD and for the first time watched a new episode last week, but it was in an episode from season one that answered my question when Jack (Matthew Fox) shaved. I guess they do/did have a few razors with them. Hmm.

In other Lost news it was Daniel Dae Kim who plays Jin on a rerun of Seinfeld last night.

I always say I'm going to write a letter...

Dear Mr. Letterman,
I'd like to start off by saying that I love your show. Some of my favorite segments include "Will it Float" that is probably my favorite segment of all. I enjoy that game so much, sometimes my friend Sarah and I play along with you and Paul while talking on the phone, how I wish there really was a home game. Does that make me a dork? Oh well, I wont dwell on that. I also like "Ape or Artist" or "Ape, Artist or Elephant" or whatever you are calling it these days. Anyway the real reason I am writing is to thank you for finally putting the Late Show Bear away for what I can only hope is forever. I mean I really like things that are ridiculous and redundant (see above) but that was getting really old, really quick. While I have your attention I guess I should also at least throw out my idea. That is if you are going to have a cop stand behind your desk for all or part of the show, why don't you make it a good looking cop. (Mr. Cop from last night please don't take offence I was merely suggesting someone a tad younger, who have a few less donuts and most importantly was moustachless.) Well it's just a suggestion take it or leave it.
Your friend

Escape from Alcatraz...

or
If a fourth grader can do it...

Nine year old Johnny made it into the record books yesterday by swimming between Alcatraz Island and the San Francisco main land. He swam the 1.4 miles of fridgid shark infested in about two hours raising $30,000 for Katrina aid. WTG (Way to Go) Johnny!

Grrr...

Here are two things that really annoy me:
1. When you hold the door for me and I say thank you, then I hold the door for you and you say nothing. To the girl from this morning: Just because you held the door for me it doesn't excuse you from saying thank you.
2. People that sit at the computer work stations who have no intention of using the computer. There are a limited number of computers and plenty of open seats. Is it that hard to be courteous?

Scaredy Cat…

Is anyone else afraid of Elijah Wood, because I am terrified of that man? Last night he was on the Tonight Show talking about doing laundry, not a very scary topic right? Wrong. After finally getting around to watching Sin City a few weeks ago I will not be able to look at Elijah Wood the same way again. By the way this fear of Elijah Wood has also made me think twice about the tree my sister planted in my parents’ yard when we were younger. Why you ask…she named the tree Elijah.

Random thoughts and things overheard…

…part…oh who cares, is anyone counting?

Actually today’s post should be titled “Things witnessed and things overheard”, anyway it’s been a whiles since the last random thoughts post, actually it’s been a while since any post at all.

Things overheard:
Little girl and her mom at the grocery store.
Mom: To little girl who was in the cart but not in the seat part and wearing a skirt. “Put your legs together.”
Little Girl: “Because I’m a lady”
Mom: “That’s right”

Things Witnessed:
My sister who lives about three hours away walking down the side walk of the shopping center where the grocery store mentioned before is located. Okay so it wasn’t my sister, it was a girl that looked exactly like her. I was convinced it was her for about a minute that is until I saw the belt she was wearing, and it was a belt my sister would never wear. I still called my sister to make sure it wasn’t her.

Gas station attendant on break. Okay that’s not so weird, but she was smoking a cigarette. I thought that’s not very safe, then she did what I think was the unthinkable she walked over to the pump to put one of those “This Pump is Out of Order” baggies over the handle(?). What is that thing called? You know the part the gas comes out of. A nozzle? Do hicky? Anyway it didn’t seem very safe to me. If you are reading this gas station attendant lady you might not want to do that, I know you are the expert and everything but handling a thing that gas comes out of while holding a cigarette in the other end is just not very intelligent. I’m just sayin’, that’s all.

In unrelated news I had this conversation with myself earlier tonight.
Me: You know what I hate warm tuna fish.
Myself: Hey lets have a tuna fish sandwich for dinner, better yet a grilled tuna fish sandwich.
Me: Okay.
After sandwich was done and I was eating it.
Me: Yuck warm tuna fish.
