Stunt TV…

“In these fast and fickle times, it’s nice to know that there are some things you can always count on: the enduring brilliance of the last page of The Great Gatsby; the near-religious harmonies of the Beach Boys’ “California Girls”; and the lifelong friendship of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.” This is according to Sarah Vowell in the Partly Cloudy Patriot and boy is it true, because you surly can’t count on TV to remain the same. Last night’s season premiere of Will and Grace proved that without a doubt. As a once and long time fan of W&G I’m continually saddened by steady decline that is so painfully obvious to any of us with either eyes or ears. In an attempt to wrangle in viewers last nights episode aired live, and I’m a bit saddened to say that it worked on me, but rather that helping me regain my once loyal viewership it simply made it clear that W&G is no longer the show it once was. The show that I once found witty is anything but, and somehow the acting seems to have taken a definite nose dive. I realize that I too have changed a lot in the past eight years, when the show first began I was a sophomore in high school, I am now a senior (again) in college but looking back on past episodes I know that it is not just me that has changed. To all those keeping this show on the air, it is true that NBC is in desperate need of help but keeping this dying show on the air is not the way to do it. I understand your loyalty believe me, I’ve been know to be loyal to a fault I mean I’m still watching er because I feel like if I quit I’ll be letting someone down. That being said there is a difference between loyalty and stupidity. If you really need something to fill the 8:30pm time slot on Thursday nights may I suggest rerunning the first season, I’m sure people will agree that atleast that is a step up.

Down with Flightplan...

According to an article on Yahoo over 80,000 flight attendants from 23 different airlines want the new Jody Foster flick Flightplan boycotted because it "depicts airline staffers as rude and unhelpful to passengers".

Is this really necessary? Do we want all of our movies to be pc? Come on it's just a movie sit back with your outrageously priced fountain drink, popcorn and maybe some Hot Tamales--mmm--and have a good time.

Emily's Emmy round-up...

Awhile back I posted my picks for the Emmy in a few categories, well now the results are in lets see how I did. (note: my picks were who I would like to see win, not who I thought would win.)

  • Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series, my pick- Zach Braff, winner- Tony Shalhoub
  • Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series, my pick- Marcia Cross, winner- Felicity Huffman
  • Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series, my pick- Mariska Hargitay, winner- Patricia Arquette
  • Outstanding Individual Performance In A Variety Or Music Program, my pick- Jon Stewart, winner- Hugh Jackman
  • Outstanding Comedy Series, my pick- Desperate Housewives, winner- Everybody Loves Raymond

(so far 0/5, not bad, not bad)

  • Outstanding Comedy Series, my pick and winner- The Daily Show With Jon Stewart

(yes, I finally got one!)

  • Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie, my pick- William H. Macy (although sorry Bill I would like to amend this, I really liked Geoffrey Rush in The Life and Death of Peter Sellers, but I had not watched it yet when I did my picks.) Oh look who won- Geoffrey Rush
  • Outstanding Variety, Music Or Comedy Series, my pick- Late Show with David Letterman, the winner- The Daily Show (Hey, can't be upset about that.)

So all in all my picks were not the big winners of the night, but still isn't everyone a winner? Well, not if you ask Ellen.

In other Emmy news:

  • Sean Hayes, your little "I'm pretending to be asleep thing", not funny and kinda rude I think.
  • Mr. Trump, yeah singing not your thing, although the overalls are a good look.
  • Blue Man Group, entertaining as always.
  • Late Show with David Letterman, the bear thing is getting kinda old.
  • Patrica Arquette, that hair, why?
  • S. Epatha Merkerson, it might not be a good idea to put your notes in your cleavage.

March of the Penguins...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Silo has left Roy for Scrappy after a six year relationship in which the two raised an egg together. Silo and Roy are two male penguins at New York's Central Park Zoo the two have been a couple since 1999, that was until Silo met Scrappy a female penguin and broke it off with Roy leaving him all alone. A zoo keeper said in a phone interview with the Chicago Tribune of they new couple "They had an egg. It didn't work out and they might try again." The world first learned about this pair in a NY Times article so aptly named "The Love that Dare Not Squeak Its Name." I guess all we can do now is hope for the best for poor Roy, that and stay tuned for further updates.

Watch TV Tonight...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I mentioned awhile back that a fellow blogger had a show picked up by MTV. Well it airs for the first time tonight at 10:30 on MTV, it's called The Reality Show. I'm not sure what it will be like but I say give it a chance. (Oh yeah, let me know what you think...I don't have cable.)

Your two cents...

Well actually 5 cents. Upon returning a book one day late to my local library I was informed that I owed 5 cents because their late fee policy is five cents a day. While I understand that charging something for late books is a good idea it just seems that the charge of 5 cents a day is a little silly. I mean somehow they have to keep track of these late fees and it kinda seems like a waste to me. Anyway I was telling a friend and new reader about this and she said that maybe they haven't changed their late few policy since 1954. Yeah maybe inflation has not caught up with them.

Well anyway welcome and thanks for the post idea L.
